How to Earn a PVSA with SOS

Many SOS students are able to earn the President's Volunteer Service Award through their service hours with SOS. SOS can also help students who would like to apply for the PVSA using a mixture of SOS and external community service hours. To be eligible to apply through SOS for the PVSA, please make sure you meet all the criteria below:

• Your current school does not offer PVSA certification
• You have earned enough hours total to qualify for a medal based on the PVSA criteria within a 12-month period
• Have earned at least 25 hours of community service through SOS during that period
• None of the hours were for court-ordered community service
• You were not paid for any of those hours
• None of the hours were for religious activities

If you meet all those criteria, please submit the SOS PVSA Application to [email protected] by one of our twice-yearly deadlines:

• September 30, 2024
• March 31, 2025

PVSA awardees will also be honored at SOS's annual awards reception in December.
