Meet our Alumni
Hear from Alumnus Christian Rigomonti
SOS has been, without a doubt, one of the most beneficial experiences and groups I have ever joined. When I was younger and first learning about the world, SOS took me around the world as an ambassador, as a student, as a tourist, and showed me what the world is about, and how it actually works beyond the classroom, beyond a textbook, beyond social media, and showed me what really is happening...I can 100% say that without SOS...I would not be where I am - starting a new job, and talking to the people I currently am. Being an alumni of SOS has given me...opportunities I don’t think I would have otherwise found.
Meet Abigail Bautista
Abigail is finishing up her junior year at Texas Tech University, where she is double majoring in anthropology and biology with an undecided concentration. She is interested in forensic anthropology as well as pre-med. Do you have any advice for current SOSers? The advice I have is to follow your dreams. By traveling the world and learning about all these different cultures, I was able to broaden my horizons on what I want to do in college. So, follow your dreams and try new things. |
Meet Katherine Book
Katherine is a rising junior at Georgia Tech, where she is majoring in pre-health Biochemistry. Currently, she is studying abroad in Lyon, France. In the fall, she will continue her study abroad journey in Barcelona, Spain. Do you have any advice for current SOS students? Definitely challenge yourself to get more involved. Stay involved as well. Stay in touch with people that you've traveled with or volunteered with. |
Meet Christian "Chex" Valerio
Chex is an SOS alum and a member of the SOS Board of Directors. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame in 2022, he says lived in Chicago where he works as an actuary for Oliver Wyman Actuarial. Do you have any advice for current SOS students? Always give back to those who helped you out. I believe that it should be our mission to take today to learn from yesterday to help others for their tomorrow. Having attended Notre Dame provided another opportunity for me to honor and represent my family, my city, and my culture. Being a voice and leader in your community shows the appreciation and dedication we have to everyone who has been a part of our journey. |
Meet Cristán Gutierrez
Cristán is finishing up his junior year at Austin College, where he is majoring in Art with a minor in Education. Currently, he is in Belfast, Ireland taking classes at Stranmillis University. Do you have any advice for current SOS students? Don't be afraid to say yes. It's always been pushed to say no if you're not comfortable, but if you don't say yes sometimes, you're never going to get out of that uncomfortableness. So, just saying yes, every once in a while, to something a little out of your comfort zone will help you learn as much as possible, then you can take that knowledge and share it with others. |
