- I had an idea for a service project last year during the pandemic, but I wasn’t sure how to bring it to life. Through the @sossanantonio Make It Happen program, I was able to get 70 students involved in a letter writing project where we sent over 100 letters out to frontline workers! By making a donation to SOS during the #BigGive2021 today, you can help other students like me bring their service projects to life and help the community!

- When I travelled abroad to China with @sossanantonio, it was my first time ever leaving the US! The trip inspired me to apply to international relations programs at college, and now I am excited to learn more! You can help SOS help other students like me find their purpose by donating right now for the #BigGive2021. Every dollar counts! Check my bio for the link!
PARENTS
As parents, you are able to share how your child’s participation with SOS has affected. For example, SOS may have helped build your child’s confidence or perhaps they found a sense of purpose and belonging. Maybe your child had a service project idea and was able to bring it to life through the Make It Happen program or they visited their first country. We want to be able to provide all of this and more for future students and volunteers, and sharing your stories can help!

My son, Gerald, had been involved with SOS San Antonio for a few years and had been participating in different service projects, but one day he came home and asked if he could go on a trip to Italy. At first, I was really nervous to send him away for a week and I didn’t know how we would be able to afford the trip, but fortunately, SOS was able to provide a full scholarship and even helped Gerald get his first passport. It was one of the best things that could have happened to him! When Gerald returned from Italy, it was like he was a new man! His world view had been opened, and he had a new drive to give back in the community. You can help other kids like Gerald have the same experience by donating to SOS during the #BigGive2021 right now! $100 would fund a new passport for a student, but any amount helps! The Big Give only lasts for 24 hours - you can learn more about SOS and donate here: https://www.thebiggivesa.org/organizations/summer-of-service-sos

- When I was a site leader in Germany on an SOS San Antonio trip, I was able to watch students open up, be curious, and gain appreciation for another country’s culture. It was amazing to see just how the trip affected them when we returned to the classroom a week later. I wish all students had the opportunity to go abroad in high school. You can help to send at least some of them by donating to SOS during #BigGive2021 today! Donations will be accepted until 11:59pm, and every donation counts!
